CounterBalance 2021

CounterBalance is the only professional dance production featuring award-winning Chicago artists with disabilities. The 2021 virtual presentation explored creative inclusion and accessibility through movement and technology. Passionate dancers embodied our stories with “nuance and feats of strength” that have “a humbling effect in that, just when you thought you’ve seen it all, a group of talented artists… remind us that we haven’t seen anything yet.”

ReinventAbility again sponsored

the inclusion of a dancer with a disability in

The Nutcracker

Variable and at times 'invisible' disabilities can be difficult for others to comprehend. ReinventAbility teaches by example through this inclusion that, when given a chance, we can not only be included but thrive and contribute. And DANCE!

ReinventAbility was excited to sponsor the inclusion

of a wheelchair dancer in the contemporary ballet

Amira: A Chicago Cinderella Story

This inclusion was historic in that it marked the first time that a wheelchair dancer was presented onstage at the Logan Center! Local school children were thrilled to be introduced  to wheelchair dance, inclusion and adaptation possibilities as part of this collaboration.
